Office 365 Multi-Factor Authentication

-"Office

On November 3, 2021, multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be added to faculty Office 365 accounts. This means you will not be able to get into your Office 365 account (college email account, Word, Excel, PowerPoint OneDrive) without setting an authentication device. This helps prevent cybercriminals, hackers, and “bad actors” from gaining access to your personal information.

Enroll anytime

Don’t get caught unaware! Take five minutes to enroll now on your schedule.

MFA is easy – just sign in, verify, and get access!

Visit http://www.minnstate.edu/mfa and follow the instructions to set up and activate multi-factor authentication for yourself.

What is MFA?

MFA is a method of authentication requiring more than one verification method and adds a second layer of security to user sign-ins and transactions. It works by requiring you to log in and then use one of these verification methods:

  • A randomly generated passcode or use of an authenticator app
  • A phone call and press of the # key are needed to verify

For assistance with enrolling:

  • Attend a help session via Zoom, and an IT representative will lead you through the process
  • Zoom Help Session Schedule

Zoom sessions are available for help with enrolling in MFA.
